Emily Hurtado-Arboleda

High School Services Analyst

Emily Hurtado-Arboleda joined the MI Student Aid Outreach Team in 2018. In her role as a High School Services Analyst, Emily works with high school counselors, educators, college access professionals, organizations, community groups, and state agencies to help inform students and families about State of Michigan financial aid programs and the services and support offered through MI Student Aid. She has provided training statewide and presented at over 20 conferences to build partnerships and increase awareness of the resources available to help students pursue postsecondary education. Prior to this role, Emily served as the Outreach and Recruitment Coordinator for the University Michigan Blavin Scholars Program, where she helped encourage students who had experienced time in foster care to chase their dream of earning a college degree. Emily began her career as a Foster Care Case Worker for the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS). Emily earned her bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Eastern Michigan University.

MI Student Aid is committed to supporting students in their pursuit of post-secondary education. Join us for an engaging discussion about the State's financial aid programs, student data available in the MiSSG High School Counselor Portal, and other interactive MI Student Aid resources available to assist high school counselors and support staff with inspiring and motivating students towards their path for financial success in college. Superintendents and administrators will also hear successful outreach strategies, learn about MI Student Aid’s regional approach and how they can help support high school counselors in implementing MI Student Aid services into their work with students. Focus: Diversity, Equity, Inclusion/Leadership Development/Other. Takeaways: 1. Superintendents and administrators will understand how their high schools can access valuable student level data available in the MiSSG High School Counselor Portal. 2. Superintendents and administrators will understand the various resources and support available through MI Student Aid to assist high school counselors in post-secondary efforts/planning at their school. 3. Superintendents and administrators will have a better understanding of state financial aid programs and how they can empower their high school counselors to engage with services provided by MI Student Aid through continuous partnership.
