Dr. Concetta Lewis

Assistant Superintendent of Special Populations

Concetta Lewis has over 25 years of successful leadership experience in non-profits, PreK-12 schools, and business organizations. Concetta is a John Maxwell Certified Leadership Coach, Teacher, Trainer, and Speaker. Concetta is currently an Assistant Superintendent of Special Populations, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion with Rochester Community Schools and previously served as Executive Director and Assistant Director of Special Education with Ann Arbor Public Schools. Concetta is a Past President of the Michigan Council of Exceptional Children (MCEC), President of the Michigan Association for Administrators of Special Education (MAASE), and serves as a Member at Large for the Council for Exceptional Children. She has been awarded national fellowships by America Achieves, the NEA, and Ford’s Theater for outstanding leadership and advocacy. Concetta holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Michigan State University, a Masters of Science in Administration with a concentration in Human Resources from Central Michigan University, and an Educational Specialist degree in Leadership from Saginaw Valley State University.

Effective superintendent/board communication plays an important and significant positive role in increasing student achievement. Review current and various data trends, so you are prepared to talk with a variety of stakeholder groups. Learn how to manage the message within the context of your district to build support for district initiatives.

Focus: Leadership Development/Other.

1. Explore and refine current communication strategies
2. Use a communication template to define message, audience, and key-takeaways
3. Learn the do’s and don'ts to avoid the alligators in the swamp.
