Jessica Harrand

Superintendent/Elementary Principal

Jessica Harrand has served as Superintendent – Elementary Principal at Buckley Community Schools for five years. A career educator, she has also held such roles as special education supervisor, resource room teacher, school board member, student council advisor, PTA member, and even track and cross country coach. She is a graduate of Grand Valley State University, with certificates in elementary teaching and K-12 special education. She holds her master’s degree in educational leadership with an emphasis on special education.

Buckley Community Schools Superintendent Jessica Harrand and C2AE Education Market Leader Sandra March, Associate AIA, will discuss their experience in leadership positions through the development of a bond request, engaging the Buckley community, and building a consensus around necessary school district improvements. Moderating this discussion will be Steve Jurczuk, AIA, LEED AP, who served as one of the project managers supporting these two leaders through the entire process. Regardless of the outcome of the vote on August 8, Jessica and Sandra will use this session to share lessons learned and their advice for women leaders.

Focus: Small & rural Districts/Women in Leadership/Leadership Development/Other.

1. Audience members will see an example of how strong women leaders can engage with communities to build consensus.
